Earl appeared in the May 1998 edition of TRUCKERS NEWS after attending the Mid-America Trucking Show. The copy reads, "'Kersplat' is the name of this awesome 1997 Peterbilt 379 owned and operated by Earl and Debbie Peterson, Liberal, KS. The truck won first place in Paint, and no wonder: Detailing includes using the fuel tank metal as another 'color' in the graphics, a stainless steel fifth wheel cover and 576 louvers. Cab details include hardwood floors and lots of shiny metal add-ons."

Shortly after this show, the Peterson's "Kersplat" was chosen to appear on the CAT Scale collectors series "Super Trucks" trading card. A picture of the card appears on the Pictures link.
